Will Google Plus Checkmate Facebook?

Yesterday Google announced its new social network site Goolge+ which could checkmate Facebook. It is now in trial stage and open to limited people. Google+ is more private and smarter for real-life sharing.

"At the moment, we're testing with a small number of people, but it won't be long before the Google+ project is ready for everyone. Leave us your email address and we'll make sure that you're the first to know when we're ready to invite more people."

Google Acquires AdMeld For $400 Million

AdMeld, an advertising optimization platform for publishers, has been acquired by Google for around $400 million according to multiple sources. The company, which launched in 2007, has raised just $30 million in venture capital from Foundry Group, Spark Capital, Norwest Venture Partners and Time Warner Investments.

This is a sweet comeback for CEO Michael Barrett. As I noted in our first post about AdMeld in 2009, Barrett was fired from News Corp. in 2008 when the division that owned MySpace failed to meet a $1 billion revenue target. Most sources we spoke with at the time said he was the fall guy for an unrealistic revenue target to begin with, set by News Corp.’s Rupert Murdoch in a previous earnings call.

PostRank Acquired by Google

Search giant had just acquired web analytic aggregator PostRank. PostRank analyses updates of social networks and about the shared content of the publishers and its competitors performance.

PostRank posted this message officially  at their website as follows

We are excited to announce that PostRank has been acquired by Google!

"We know that making sense of social engagement data is crucial for online businesses, which is why we’ve worked hard to monitor where and when content generates meaningful interactions across the web. Indeed, conversations online are an important signal for advertisers, publishers, developers and consumers — but today’s tools only skim the surface of what we think is possible"

"We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished, and we now look forward to working with Google’s team to build more useful tools for measuring engagement online, and we’ll be sure to share details on our progress in the coming months."
